Spectrum WiFi Extenders: $5 a month, up to 2,000 sq ft each

Spectrum WiFi Extenders are $5/mo each, Spectrum Advanced WiFi required. The WiFi 7 extender adds up to 2,000 sq ft of coverage; the older extender for non-WiFi 7 routers adds 800 sq ft. Per Spectrum, August 2026.

The plan sets the speed. The extender sets the reach.

What it costs

Spectrum WiFi Extenders are $5/mo each, Spectrum Advanced WiFi required. Advanced WiFi is $10/mo on Internet 100 and Internet 500. It is included on Internet 1 Gig and faster, and on any plan bundled with TV or two Spectrum Mobile lines. Spectrum lists no purchase price or promotion for the extender.

Requires Spectrum Advanced WiFi and a compatible router. Coverage may be affected by obstructions or extender setup. Per Spectrum, August 2026.

How much coverage each one adds

The WiFi 7 extender adds up to 2,000 sq ft of coverage; the older extender for non-WiFi 7 routers adds 800 sq ft. The WiFi 7 model is a tower; the older model is a small wall plug-in. Each plugs into a wall outlet, joins your wireless network, and is managed in the My Spectrum App. Spectrum says they join the router in one mesh network that hands a device from room to room with fewer dead spots.

How many your home needs

We have not found a coverage figure Spectrum publishes for the Advanced WiFi router on its own, so this page does not turn your square footage into a count to buy. What follows from the figures Spectrum does publish is a rule: one WiFi 7 extender for every 2,000 sq ft the router does not reach. The speed test asks your home’s size and says how many 2,000 sq ft blocks it spans. Its two readings, one wired at the router and one in the room that struggles, say whether coverage is the problem at all; the speed test keeps them by time of day. If the wired reading is short too, the plan is short, and the household planner sizes that.

Common questions

How much does a Spectrum WiFi Extender cost?

$5/mo each, Spectrum Advanced WiFi required. Spectrum lists no purchase price or promotion for the extender.

How much coverage does one extender add?

The WiFi 7 extender adds up to 2,000 sq ft of coverage; the older extender for non-WiFi 7 routers adds 800 sq ft. The WiFi 7 model is a tower that plugs into a wall outlet; the older model is a small wall plug-in. Both connect to your wireless network and are managed in the My Spectrum App. Coverage may be affected by obstructions or extender setup, so the figures are ceilings, not promises for a given room.

Do I need Spectrum Advanced WiFi to use an extender?

Yes. Spectrum’s own disclaimer reads: "Requires Spectrum Advanced WiFi and a compatible router. Coverage may be affected by obstructions or extender setup." Advanced WiFi is Spectrum’s WiFi 7 router and mesh system, managed in the My Spectrum App. Advanced WiFi is $10/mo on Internet 100 and Internet 500. It is included on Internet 1 Gig and faster, and on any plan bundled with TV or two Spectrum Mobile lines.

How many extenders does my home need?

We have not found a coverage figure Spectrum publishes for the Advanced WiFi router on its own, so this page does not turn your square footage into a count to buy. What follows from the figures Spectrum does publish is a rule: one WiFi 7 extender for every 2,000 sq ft the router does not reach. The speed test asks your home’s size and says how many 2,000 sq ft blocks it spans.

Will an extender make my internet faster?

Not past your plan. An extender carries the WiFi farther and leaves fewer dead spots, so a weak room can get closer to the speed the plan delivers at the router. Run the speed test twice: on the device that struggles, where it sits, and on a laptop plugged into the router. If the wired reading is fine and the room’s reading is not, coverage is the likely problem, and an extender is the usual fix. If both fall short of what the house needs at once, the plan is short and an extender will not change that.

Will a Spectrum WiFi Extender work with my own router?

Spectrum describes its extenders as components of its Advanced WiFi mesh, and the disclaimer requires Spectrum Advanced WiFi and a compatible router. We have not verified whether Spectrum supports them on a router you bought yourself, so this page makes no claim about that.
